The wheels that we mount on our unicycles or supply separately are built by us by hand in our warehouses in Italy. We use high quality components and each wheel is carefully checked before being sent to the customer. We build wheels from 16 "up to 29", with reinforced rims, with or without holes, anodized in the colors made in Italy that we offer. We build our wheels using 4 cross pattern.  If you want a wheel of different size contact us, we are available to make it as you wish and with the components that we will define together. Once the wheel has been built on the inside of the rim we apply a label with the date and the signature of the the Mad4One team member who has made the wheel.

THE ETRTO
WHEEL SPECIFICATION

ETRTO stands for European Tire and Rim Technical Organization. This organization sets specific standards to match rims, tires, valves for several means of transport, from bicycles to airplanes, in order to establish regulations that tires and rims producers must follow to guarantee a safe matching between the different components. However, older English and French tire size dimensions are still used as well. The ETRTO size specification indicates by the first digit the width of the tire (expressed in mm) and by the second digit the diameter of the rim (in mm) measured at the point where the beads of the tire lay on the rim. This dimension is clear and allows a precise classification of the rim size.

THE ETRTO WIDTH

The ETRTO diameter must be the same as the tire we will be mounting. The ETRTO width is the inner width of the rim not to be confused with the profile width.

Example: ETRTO 51-559

The MTB tire 26x2.10 will be marked with ETRTO 51-559. It means that it will be 51 mm wide and we can install it on a rim with a diameter equal to 559 mm.

1. WHEEL LACING

When you mount the spokes try to be as accurate as possible, usually I insert the spokes so that only one tread is visible outside of the nipple (see "wheel tensioning instructions"). The spoke holes on the rim are often not centered, they are slightly offset. If the offset is not zero, you must connect the hole with the flange on the same side. This is not true, if you are cross lacing the wheel (we use this type for freestyle) where the hole on one side is connected with the flange of the opposite side. Do not confuse this cross with the number of spoke crosses we will be doing while building the wheel.

1. WHEEL TENSIONING

In regards to wheel building, especially with 19-inch wheels with short spokes, a spoke tensioner does not mean the best wheel build. It is better to have a good spoke wrench (adjuster). Note that if the rim without the spokes was not straight, there are two ways to build the wheel. The first is to force the straight shape, which means the wheel will have different tensions on the spokes, but will ride smoothly. This is important for racing and road riding, because a round wheel is what matters the most. However, for 19-inch and muni, where the wheel is being used for jumping and landing and is prone to crashing, the robustness is the most important thing.

LA HANDLE SADDLE, LA SELLA PIU' ROBUSTA E LEGGERA
IDEATA DA MAD4ONE

La finitura della Base e della MAD-Extension la puoi realizzare tu, in base alle tue idee e al tuo progetto, perchè LIBERTA' è anche questo.

La base corta viene prevalentemente usata per le selle URBAN (cuscino centrale, maniglia libera anteriore e posteriore), ma ci sono diversi estimatori anche della versione corta con cuscino completo. La base corta è stata la prima ad essere realizzata e pensando all'uso Urban non è particolarmente sottile al centro (80mm) mentre sia la media sia la lunga hanno subito un processo di affinamento che in tre lotti prodotti ha visto la base stringersi di 12mm rispetto alla base corta.

LA HANDLE SADDLE PER IL MONDO URBAN

La Handle Saddle è nata per il mondo Urban dove la sella è usata principalmente con le mani e dove la presa veloce e sicura sono un plus importante.

Il doppio loop aperto con il grip ha lo stesso diametro di un manubrio da bicicletta ed ecco il nome Handle Saddle ed offre una possibilità di gestione della sella che le altre selle non possono offrire.

Con le selle Urban la comodità di seduta è ridotta al minimo.

LE VERSIONI CHE PROPONIAMO

LA HANDLE SADDLE CON CUSCINO INTERO IN PELLE

Successivamente abbiamo realizzato le selle con il cuscino intero dove la comodità di seduta è uno degli aspetti a cui abbiamo dato maggior attenzione.

Non tutti usano il monociclo nello stesso modo e non tutti hanno la stessa forma anatomica.

Per adattarsi alle diverse esigenze abbiamo realizzato sia un cuscino stretto sia uno più largo, anche gli intagli di scarico della pressione sono differenti.

Questi due cuscini possono essere montati su tutte le basi in alluminio.

In futuro avremo dei nuovi cuscini e una base corta più stretta con diversi cuscini pensati sia per il freestyle sia per l'hockey ... ma questo è solo un progetto che speriamo di realizzare nei prossimi anni.
